COUPLES MINISTRY

God Creates The Spirit Man and Woman

 KJV Genesis 1:26-27

 26.  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

 27.  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

God Creates Man in the Flesh

 KJV Genesis 2:7

 7.  And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

 First Arranged Marriage

 KJV Genesis 2:18-24

18  And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

19  And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

20  And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

21  And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22  And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23  And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24     Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

 Why Join the Couples Ministry?

There is a tendency for the spiritual nature of man and the spiritual aspect of marriage to be minimized in most relationships. Many view marriage as an unequal partnership designed to help you get things, raise children and just avoid being alone. The fact that both men and women were made in God’s image prior to man’s creation from the dust indicates that there is a relationship within a marriage that is entirely spiritual.

 KJV 2 Corinthians 6:14

 14.  Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

 KJV 1 Corinthians 7:14

 14.  For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

The goal of the couples ministry is to build upon the spiritual strengths that are available through Christ to strengthen marriages, whole families and our church. By combining fellowship and social activities with workshops, seminars and retreats we should be able to increase the interaction between the men, women and children of the church and ultimately affect our whole community. We will strive to solidify individual bonds between man/ wife, parent/child and family/church by focusing on the personal relationship that each of us has with God. Mature Christians have the ability to affect whole households, communities and are the effectual backbone of the church. Marriages that yield to God are stronger and often inspire young adults to not give up hope in eventually having that family that they often pray for and to not give up when the storms of life encompass them.

How will we do this?

1. Share the joys and struggles of marriage and raising children with others who are in the same boat as you.

2. Find other couples that would be there for each other during good times and not so good times.

3. Plan GETAWAYS as a couples or as men and women to strengthen social bonds.
4. Meet and make new friends by participating in routine fellowship dinners for the group.

5. SEMINARS designed to:

Equip couples with proven skills and tools in fighting for their marriages. Train parents in how to provide a moral and spiritual compass for their children. Make the congregation a center for building healthy marriages and families.
